Our Grade 1/2 class was learning about the difference between mammals and oviparous animals. Of course they carried the topic outside to work on a bird sanctuary.
April is Autism Acceptance month, a time to encourage people to embrace neurodiversity and celebrate autistic individuals for who they are, without attempting to change or cure their autism. Our goal is to help build a more understanding world for everyone. Let’s promote acceptance, and value the unique talents and perspectives of autistic people. Let’s show our support by wearing red on April 2 to kick off autism acceptance month. Whether it is through participating in events, sharing resources, or simply having conversations with friends and family, we can all play a role in celebrating Autism Acceptance month and working towards a more inclusive future for all
Congratulations to Dylan who won the draw for our Scholastic Book Fair! Participation in the book fair gave each student an opportunity to win.
Our wonderful PPO members have organized a fundraiser for Franklin to raise money for the FES Library Makeover. The planning for this project is in the works, and the staff is looking forward to creating a new and improved reading space for our students to help encourage the importance of reading.
The Montreal Canadians vs the Carolina Hurricanes game is on April 16 at the Bell Centre at 7:00 p.m.
To start, the oldest sibling in each family was sent home with 10 tickets to collect donations.More tickets are available upon request. Return tickets stubs with the person’s name, email, and phone #, along with collected money by Wednesday, April 9.
The draw for the winner will take place on Friday, April 11!
We thank you in advance for you support in helping with this fundraiser. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact the school.
With thanks from the Franklin Staff & PPO
Students have enjoyed many activities lately – including some outdoor learning & fun.
All Franklin students had the opportunity to go swimming on March 14!
This activity was supported by our “Skating, Swimming, and Snow Fun – We’re moving our muscles!” program, carried out in partnership with Loisir et Sport Montérégie thanks to financial assistance from the Government of Quebec, as part of the Financial Assistance Program for Local and Regional Physical Activity Initiatives.
Some of our students cowrote an article about their adventures for our local newspaper, The Gleaner. Read it for yourself via this link: Franklin Elementary students enjoy fun field trips – The Gleaner
The very popular Dog Man Scholastic book series has been turned into an animated movie. Many FES students, across multiple grades, are familiar with this series. The staff at FES can confidently say that the Dog Man books are a classroom library FAVORITE. Knowing how popular the book series are amongst our students, the staff thought it would be a fun and exciting experience to see Dog Man come to life on the big screen.
March is National Nutrition Month and here at FES we have been encouraging students and families to send healthy snacks to school to see the benefits of eating healthier and how it affects the rest of our day.
To kick off the month, Mme Laure-Julie and her grade 5/6 class made a Bagel Pizza lunch with vegetables for the whole school.
For dessert we offered the students frozen applesauce, which ended up being a HUGE hit.
The following week was Salad and Grilled Cheese.
A big thank you to Mme Laure-Julie and her class as well as Chantal Hortop, who was a big help as our parent volunteer.

The Monterégie West Community Network (MWCN) partnered with artist Marie-Eve Hurteau to bring a creative painting activity to our K4/K5 students. Funded by CHSSN to support children on the spectrum, this initiative allowed students to explore different tools and techniques using acrylic paint to create their own canvas artwork. Each child received a take-home painting kit and a DIY sensory bottle-making kit to extend the experience beyond the classroom. This activity provided a hands-on opportunity for self-expression, creativity, and sensory exploration.
