As you are most likely aware, Franklin Elementary School recently completed the construction of two outdoor meeting spaces (classrooms). We are proud to continue to develop our outdoor education program.
To date, we are able to offer outdoor meeting spaces, cultural garden boxes, and an arboretum. As we move forward, we will continue to work to add additional items to our outdoor space. In the short term we are seeking support to build a pergola to add shade as well as four large sensory boxes for students to build and create. In the long term, we would like to add outdoor chalkboards, water play, and balance structures.
At the same time, we are proud to announce that Franklin Elementary School has been the recipient of a Professional Development and Innovation Grant (PDIG) that will be used to align our outdoor activities with the Quebec Education Program.
We are always looking for ways to partner with the local community. In the completion of this phase of the project, we must recognize the key support and contribution of certain members of the community. Gary & Trevor Livingstone graciously donated a large portion of the materials and their time to complete the project. This project was also made possible by the donations made to the school in honour of Kristen Maither.
There are many opportunities to support this project. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to contribute.
We look forward to seeing everyone on October 29 at 1:00 for our launch party.
